Poetry Typesetting and Printing Workshop, March 22

$135.00
Only 2 available

Pre-requisite: “Intro to Typesetting and Letterpress” with Nesja Press, or you have experience setting metal type by hand with a composing stick.*

Workshop time: 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Workshop size: up to 3 students, ages 18 and up

Location: Nesja Press,
307 Green Street, Mt. Horeb, Wis.

Participants will set a short poem or haiku of their choosing, up to four or five lines. If you'd like an image to be included with your poem, you'll have the opportunity to select something from our vintage printer's cuts. We'll plan to use our Vandercook press for type and image lockups and printing. We'll ink the press with one color that we can all agree on, and print on cotton paper.

Price includes all class materials and one-on-one instruction. Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and clothing you don’t mind getting ink on. Be prepared to stand as you work. Stairs are required between studio level and restroom. Our studio can sometimes feel cooler, we suggest wearing layers. Please bring your own covered water bottle and non-alcoholic beverages if you’d like to have something to drink while you work.

In the event of severe weather, illness or unforeseen circumstances, we’ll attempt to reschedule or offer a full refund.

*This workshop requires prior experience setting metal type by hand using a composing stick. If you've taken our “Intro to Typesetting and Letterpress” workshop, you'll be ready for this one.
