Block Print and Bind a Journal Cover Workshop
Design and print a journal cover with carved linoleum. Choose a paper color and print your carved image on our Vandercook press. Then bind the cover with 50 blank pages to create a wire-bound journal you can take and use. Limited to five participants ages 16 and up. View event for more details and registration.
Intro to Typesetting and Letterpress Workshop
Learn how to set a line of metal type by hand (a name or short phrase) and letterpress print on a platen press. Leave with a newfound appreciation for the craft, as well as a beautiful set of letterpress notecards and envelopes. Limited to three participants ages 18 and up. Letterpress Poster Design and Printing Workshop
Explore our unique collection of antique wood type and imagery to make your own posters. Learn how to plan your layout, lock-up type in the press and print five posters on our Vandercook SP15. Limited to two participants ages 18 and up. View event for more details and registration.
Linocut Art Printmaking Workshop
Carve an image on a 5 x 7 sheet of linoleum and print it on 8 x 10 cotton paper. Image guidelines and ideas will be shared prior to the workshop. We'll use an ink brayer and our Vandercook press for printing. Leave with up to five art prints suitable for framing. Limited to five participants ages 16 and up. Poetry Typesetting and Printing Workshop
Participants will set a short poem of their choosing, up to four or five lines, and letterpress print on cotton paper. Option to add an image with the poem. Pre-requisite: Intro to Typesetting and Letterpress with Nesja Press, or you have experience setting metal type by hand with a composing stick. Limited to three participants ages 18 and up. New Glarus Art in the Park
We look forward to seeing you in New Glarus at Art in the Park. This annual fine arts and crafts event takes place every labor day weekend on Sunday in beautiful downtown New Glarus. It coincides with the Wilhelm Tell Festival celebrating the community’s Swiss heritage.
New Impressions Exhibit
We’re honored that our print collaboration with Drew Dernavich, Bagel Story, has been selected for the 2024 New Impressions Exhibit. This international, juried exhibition showcases exploration and creativity with letterpress printing techniques. In August it was announced that Bagel Story was voted as the In-Person People’s Choice Award!

FREE THE BOOKS: A Print Exhibition
Our print, “Brain on Books,” is part of this important exhibition at the Evanston Public Library through April 2024. This exhibition encourages letterpress printers and artists to support every individual’s right to read and express their dismay at the alarming uptick in book challenges in recent years. Organized by the Evanston Public Library, Starshaped Press and Hive Center for Book Arts.
