We wanted to create a print that called attention to a recent and troubling increase in book bans. “Brain on Books” takes inspiration from the '80s ad campaign, “This is your brain on drugs,” but twists the outcome to be positive instead of negative. If you read banned books your mind won’t be harmed, but will instead be opened, educated, inspired, and informed. We searched for the titles of commonly banned books and highlighted a variety of titles that folks might be familiar with, classics and newer works.

Christy hand carved linoleum to create the images of the brains and the stack of books. These were run through our Vandercook SP15 with a split fountain of orange and magenta inks. All type was printed in a second run of black ink using a lock-up of metal and wood type and ornaments. Trim size 8.5 x 11.

Paper: 65 lb. French Pop Tone, Pink Lemonade. Packaged in a resealable plastic sleeve with chipboard backing.
