The Trees Beckon Art Print
Trees have long been a source of comfort and beauty to me (Christy). In my childhood I spent a good portion of my time playing in the woods near our home, making trails and forts with my friends and siblings. As an adult I enjoy hiking in the outdoors, especially in wooded parkland. This image was inspired by a view I see on a particular trail I walk near my home in Stewart County Park, Dane County, Wis. The trees in this area grow on a steep incline. Their shapes bend and create a natural cathedral. I feel at peace when I walk this portion of the trail, and privileged to be in this sacred, natural space. I felt compelled to capture that feeling of welcome, peace, stillness and beauty. Limited edition of 20 prints. Sold unframed.

How we made these: Christy carved two different linoleum blocks using a reduction cut method. She used carbon paper to transfer her design onto the blocks. The first block was carved to reveal a solid sky area. This same block was carved again to reveal background trees against the sky. A second block was carved to create a layer of trees and leaves in the foreground. The second block was cut/reduced a second time to account for the darkest shadow areas of the image.
